Day 16: Log Cabin day and National Organization for Women Day (day late)

Happy late Log Cabin Day and National Organization for Women Day!
Unfortunately I don’t have much to do for Log Cabin Day. However, I did take a moment to appreciate lovely log cabins. I love how rustic and homey they can be. How great would it be to take a few days off from our busy lives and head up to a log cabin up int he mountains to breathe some fresh air and relax?

Today is also a day to celebrate women and the huge steps that have been made in creating equality for us. The six core issues for the organization now are reproductive issues, violence against women, constitutional equality, promoting diversity/ending racism, lesbian rights, and economic justice. Their statement of purpose is  “To take action to bring women into full participation in the mainstream of American society now, exercising all privileges and responsibilities thereof in truly equal partnership with men.” I am so proud of the progress that has been made and am excited to see what the future holds.

Lessons Learned: I may be a little biased, but women are pretty amazing. I’m so thankful for everything that the women of the past have done in standing up for rights that I may take for granted now.

Up for tomorrow: Canada Day….eh?
